Read chapters 3-5 of The Scarlet Letter.  Create a Toulmin Diagramfor Dimmesdale’s argument to Hester in chapter 3.

The Guidance Argument – Create a Toulmin Diagram for each of the arguments on the guidance page.  You must fill in each diagram based on what is written, not on what you think.  Remember, this exercise is about identifying the pieces of the argument, not about whether or not you disagree with what is being said in my fake paragraphs.  Be sure to add at least one way in which you could undermine each argument.  You will place these counterarguments to the side of the Toulmin diagram.
